jmanJaspar David Utley worked and lived in other countries for over 35 years, 31 of them with the British Council. The countries were Hong Kong, Thailand, Ghana, Greece, China, Namibia and India. Those years gave him the experiences that inform and enliven his books.

His first books, Allsorts and other stories and Ngoma and Click , were published in Namibia where he wrote and recorded over 30 stories for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation. Three of his Ngoma and Click stories were also filmed for television by the NBC.

The remainder of his books and plays were written and published in India. Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, the bravest and the best was followed by Tall Tales, Tales of the Puffugees and Nose Uncle. He has also been published in anthologies.

His most recent book is Nose Uncle and the Chameleon.

Jaspar is also a devotee of amateur dramatics and as well as acting and directing, he has written several plays that have been performed in India and Britain.

  1. How lovely to catch up with you Jaspar, after 25 years or so! Libby Nithavrianakis nee Hingston-Jones of the British Embassy, Peking! I still have your typed up farewell poem at theHail and Farewell! Mike has been BDHC here in Chennai for the last four years and loved every minute.

    Looks like you have thoroughly enjoyed life and I look forward to reading some of your books.
